Yeah one month has passed since my last entry. I was back in Singapore and now I'm back in London.
1. The first SG paper I read in many months struck me as how pro-goverment it was. The GST was raised from 5% to 7%, yet the text was disproportionate. One paragraph actually addressed the hike. The other 10 columns (of 10 paragraphs each) were about the rebates and offsets. The general feeling I got from the paper was the hike isn't a hike... it was a tax-restructuring.
2. Met an old sec classmate who I haven't seen in like... 10 years. Was surprised that I spoke without a Brit accent after learning I was overseas for like 5 years. I simply replied "ah, all my friends will leave me if I spoke with an English accent"
3. My only regret was I didn't manage to meet up with all that I'd like to meet. There simply wasn't enough time. I had double dinners on two occasions (one at 6, another at 7.30), and on the day before I left, I met 4 different groups of people, excluding my family... To those I didn't meet (you know who you are), I'm terribly sorry.
4. I'm somewhat surprised (though if I think about it, it shouldn't be surprising) that many more of my peers are talking about cars, houses, marriage, babies... and diamond rings...
